First Day Photos!

Wow! We made it through our first week. That is a big accomplishment and we survived the heat and humidity. I think this week is going to be a bit cooler which will be great! Here are some cute pictures of our first day. :)

Curriculum

We have now started having a weekly spelling list. The list will come home on Mondays in your child's backpack as well as posted on the blog. The test will be on Fridays.

In Chapter 6 we will be working with numbers and Place Value. The vocabulary for this chapter includes: digit, ones and tens. Please check your child's backpack nightly for math homework.

All students will be placed in a reading group at school that is appropriate. Students will also be bringing home a level appropriate book to read at home. First graders are expected to read for at least 20 minutes, 5 times per week.

We will be working on the following during the coming weeks for Science and Social Studies: Community Helpers, Penguins and Winter.
